Timez Are Weird These Days is the major label debut for Broklyn much hyped rapper Theophilus London, and it showcases an exciting new talent on the hip hop scene. London makes use of sounds spanning the last few decades, particularly the 80's, but he puts it all together in a way that comes across as fresh rather than pastiche. He is not the most gifted rapper ever to walk the earth but he makes the best of what he's got. He also ventures into singing on several tracks, and when he does his love of 80's synth music as well as The Smiths and TV on the Radio becomes more apparent. This album is a foot-tapping, ass-wiggling blast from start to finish and will surely be one of the best rap albums of the year come December.
